ABOUT HERVEY BAY

Hervey Bay is one of Australia's premier natural holiday destinations. Bordered by 40km's of pristine beaches and waterways, Hervey Bay is internationally recognized for its spectacular whale watching and as the gateway to the world heritage listed Fraser Island.

Hervey Bay offers an incredible number of things to see and do - you'll be spoilt for choice.

CLIMATE

Hervey Bay's climate is sub-tropical with long warm summers and mild winters.
Summer temperature range from 22-30 degrees Celsius.
Winter temperatures range from 10-21 degrees Celsius.

WHALE WATCHING

Hervey Bay is internationally recognized as one of the best places to view the annual whale migration. Between June and November humpback whales migrate north, leaving the freezing waters of the far south to bask, breed and give birth in Queensland's tropical waters.

The secure waters of the bay between Hervey Bay and Fraser Island is the perfect place to see the newborn whales as they gain their strength for the migration back down south.

FRASER ISLAND

The world Heritage Listed Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world measuring 123km in length and 22km at the widest point.

There is an abundance of natural attractions to discover on the island which boasts over 100 freshwater lakes, rainforests, long stretching sandy beaches, The Coloured Sands and The Maheno Shipwreck.

FISHING

The diversity that Hervey Bay has to offer anglers is unbeatable. Whether you're estuary, beach, reef, or game fishing or throwing a line off the jetty, you're a sure chance of a world-class catch!
